For much of my life, I believed that becoming meant moving toward something.
A destination. An accomplishment. A version of myself I had yet to meet.
Like many of us, I learned to measure progress through what I could achieve, what I could build, and what I could overcome. And for many years, those measurements shaped the way I understood myself.
But life has a fascinating way of inviting us to question the very things we once believed defined us.
Through experiences of success and loss, connection and separation, certainty and uncertainty, I began exploring a question that would gradually change my relationship with myself:
Who am I when I am no longer defined by what I do, what I have, or what others see?
I didn’t find a single answer.
Instead, I discovered that the question itself was opening a different relationship with life.
I began recognizing how much of our identity is shaped by the stories we inherit, the experiences we carry, and the meanings we assign to them. Some of these stories help us grow. Others quietly convince us that our worth is something we must earn.
And perhaps one of the most meaningful discoveries along my journey has been that our worth was never waiting at the end of an accomplishment.
It was never something we needed to become worthy of.
As my understanding evolved, so did my curiosity about what it means to be human.
I became drawn to the relationship between our inner world and the ways we express ourselves outwardly. To the symbols we carry, the traditions we inherit, the stories we remember, and the parts of ourselves that may be waiting for our attention.
Over time, that curiosity began taking a physical form.
A crown.
Not as a symbol of superiority, status, or separation from others, but as an invitation to recognize something within ourselves.
And from that understanding, Visión de León began to take shape.
Each creation begins with a person, not a design.
Their story. Their experiences. Their questions. The qualities they recognize within themselves and those they may be discovering.
Through conversation, symbolism, materials, and intention, I seek to create something that honors that individual expression.
A crown does not make someone worthy.
It offers an opportunity to remember the worth that was already there.
Today, I continue exploring many of the same questions that brought me here. My understanding changes. My perspective expands. And life continues offering experiences that invite me to reconsider what I thought I knew.
I don’t see that as an unfinished journey waiting for completion.
I see it as the experience of being human.
Visión de León is one expression of that experience.
And perhaps the most beautiful part is that every person who enters this journey brings a story that allows both of us to discover something new.
